The pelvic floor is an active, dynamic structure made up of muscles, fascia, ligaments, nerves and blood vessels. It is the floor of our abdomen, responsible for far more than we imagine.
It supports the pelvic organs (bladder, uterus, vagina and bowel), controls urinary and faecal continence, plays a part in sexual function and posture, and is deeply linked to our stability and sense of well-being.

When the pelvic floor is not working properly, symptoms can appear, such as leaking urine when laughing, coughing or sneezing, urinary urgency, pelvic pain, discomfort during sex, a feeling of heaviness in the vagina or even a “bulge” at the entrance to the vagina (prolapse).
These are signals the body gives, but they are often ignored, normalised or hidden.
