Pelvic Health, Menstruation and Women's Wellness

More than just a medical topic, pelvic health reflects how society views the female body.
Even today, in the 21st century, many women whisper when talking about their bladder, their perineum, or their menstruation. This whisper is often a symptom of a quiet taboo that has accompanied us since childhood. Whether due to shame, embarrassment, or simply a lack of knowledge, the female body remains an under-explored territory, and this has real consequences for wellness and quality of life.

The menstrual cycle and the pelvis: an internal dance

Pelvic health and menstruation are deeply connected.
During the menstrual cycle, the pelvic floor responds to hormonal fluctuations, estrogen, for example, affects tissue tone and elasticity, while progesterone can increase feelings of weight or bloating in the pelvic region.
Recognizing these variations is essential to understanding your own body and adapting care for each phase of the cycle.

In the days leading up to menstruation, it's common for some women to feel their pelvic floor is more sensitive or tense. At these times, relaxation practices, diaphragmatic breathing, and gentle stretches can be great allies.
During ovulation, when estrogen levels are higher, tissues tend to be more elastic, a good time for body awareness and strengthening exercises.

Menstruation, therefore, is not just a monthly event, but a window of communication with the body. When there is intense and incapacitating pain in this phase, it is a sign that something needs attention and requires medical evaluation.
