Using the cup
It's a small medical-silicone container that is inserted into the vagina to collect menstrual flow, instead of absorbing it like a pad or tampon. Once inserted, it opens naturally and creates a seal, staying firmly in place until it's ready to be emptied.
It's chosen by measurement, never by age: what counts is your flow, whether you've had a vaginal birth and whether it's your first cup. Take the 3-question quiz or check our size guide (0, 1 or 2).
Before you buy, take the 3-question quiz or check the size guide. If you're still unsure, the KIT comes with two sizes (0+1 or 1+2) so you can try them and keep the one that works best, without buying twice. Please note that, as this is an intimate hygiene product, it can't be returned once the seal has been opened.
Up to 12 hours in a row, depending on your flow. On heavier days, you may need to empty it more often.
When it's inserted correctly, you don't feel it. The medical-grade silicone, soft to the touch, and the anatomical design make insertion gentle, even for beginners.
Yes, that's one of the big advantages of the cup. You can sleep, swim, run or work out with it in, as long as it's inserted correctly and well sealed, for up to 12 hours in a row.
No. The vagina is a closed canal: the cup can't go past the cervix. It may move up a little during the day, but you can always reach the base: relax, bear down as if you were going to the toilet and squeeze the base to release the seal before pulling.
It's almost always a sign that the cup hasn't opened fully. After inserting it, rotate it or run your finger around the base to check that it's open and well sealed. In your first cycles it's normal to need to try different folds and angles. If it keeps happening, the size may not be right for you. Check the size guide.
Yes, but talk to your doctor or gynaecologist first. Always release the seal before removing the cup, so you don't pull on the IUD strings. There is no evidence that correct use of the cup dislodges the device.
During your cycle, wash it with water and mild soap. At the start and end of each cycle, boil it in water for 4 to 5 minutes.
Cup material
Made from medical-grade silicone, free from BPA and latex. We chose it because it is stable: it doesn't absorb, it can be washed and boiled, and it keeps its shape and flexibility cycle after cycle.
The medical-grade silicone we use is free from BPA and latex and doesn't absorb, so it doesn't hold on to odours.
Under normal conditions and with proper care, it lasts up to 10 years: much more economical than pads or tampons.
